There is a mystery going on at Indian Lake Central School. The puzzle is: "1771."

What the title means is what the middle school play is about and will be staged on October 26, at 7:03 p.m. in the ILCS Auditorium.

The production becomes a play within a play, as the cast solves the brain-teaser. In solving the mystery the characters will indirectly explain what the school's color team competitions are ---- including the strange fact that certain teams keep winning the competitions.

Found in an old history textbook is the mysterious number 1771 with a cryptic message. Is it a palindrome? Maybe, but that doesn’Äôt mean the mystery club knows if they are coming or going or droning on about a problem that ends at the beginning, but solves nothing. In spite of all their thinking, is the mystery a trick that Mr. Mazzone placed there to make his history students think or just his lesson where the Met's fans in the seventh grade class drew a map that looks like a baseball.

It would be a 'conundrum' if certain students would have done their vocab assignments and knew what the word meant. For some a 'conundrum' is a riddle to be solved, for others --- maybe it is a new musical instrument that Mr. Dora is learning to play.

Fortunately for the dim and studious alike, there is the Mystery Club (aka 'Clueless Crusaders') around to solve the puzzle. If they do, Ms. Stanton will give extra credit on an upcoming test. Or the color team with the highest participation from its members will get 100 points.

The Clueless Crusaders received their nickname from Computer Club members --- the Mystery Club's sworn enemy. Unfortunately, the Mystery Club might have to enlist the services of the Computer Club to solve the mystery.

When the sleuthing isn’Äôt confusing, it is crazy. This is because the Palindrome dancers get in line to help out. Forward and backwards, this is a dance group that gives information that might help solve the mystery. Or they might be stealing the show, not solving the puzzle. It is hard for the characters to start out on the right foot when everyone is 'left, left left'?

romance flyer All in all the cast of characters will pull it off and solve the mystery, just in time for the end of the middle school competition.

This is the second annual middle school performance at Indian Lake Central School with the same great acting, dancing and singing as last year - not to mention lots of fun for all. Enjoy the drama and comedy in the Indian Lake Auditorium on October 26, at 7:03 p.m.

Refreshments will be available for purchase in the lobby.

Tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for students. Performance begins at 7:03 p.m. and refreshment will be available for purchase. The coffee house is a fundraiser for the ILCS Middle School.
