Such is the pretense for the production of "Board To Death" at the Adirondack Hotel: March 8, 2002. The shows begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and the performance begins at 6:27 p.m. The fictitious Adirondack Community Theatre has a dilemma on its hands. The Playwright Arthur Montage is dead, after only completing the first half of what is now his last murder mystery. A couple problems are contributing to the ACT decision of what to do with Art Montage's play. First of which is who gets to play the lead role and second, what are they going to do for an ending. Trying to figure out who killed Montage is the least of their concerns, mainly because one of the board members is actually the killer. There is a sitting president and president, but no one to direct the play and of course no direction. A troublesome fact since the organization is in the red. The board realizes it can get out of the red, with the blood of Art Montage. Since it is Montage's last play, a sellout audience is ensured - with or without an ending. When Montage wrote "The Conflict Within" he did not realize it would lead to so much trouble and, ultimately, his own demise. Now "The Conflict Within" is a great mystery that includes a ride on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. It is a play within a play and a mystery within a mystery when the fourth annual Winter Carnival Audience Participation Murder Mystery takes to The Adirondack Hotel Stage on March 8, 2002. The Adirondack Hotel will be the site of "Board To Death"; cocktails at 5:30 p.m., with performance at 6:27 p.m. "Board To Death" is a play in which the audience attempts solves the crime. Each performance will have a different ending and the guileful sleuths have a chance to win prizes for their deductions. It should be noted, just like the fictitious Art Montage, these mysteries have sold out.
