Autumn is upon us and it is time for the Seventh Annual Lake Placid Drama Club annual murder mystery. This year production is set for a September 22 performance and will begin at 7 p.m.

This year's drama will have whimsical slant to it, as if it was raining cats and dogs. The actors will be portraying some unusual main characters; those of the feline and K-9 persuasion. There is a little fancy footwork, a little rhyming and a lot of comedy. With a theme, similar to "West Side Story" and actors playing characters akin to "Cats," "Cat Prints on a Car Hood" is sure to be a theatrical delight.

Mr. Musque was found dead, from a blow to the head.

It could be a dog, it could be a cat, that ended things like that.

It happened at one, when the rat was done.

Mr. Musque is not coming back, and that is a fact jack.

The motives range from unrequited love to cat nip dealing. It is up to the audience to discover who killed 'Muskie.' To do so, the audience will travel via a bus through Lake Placid to clue sites to interview the characters. This is after the first act is presented at the High School Auditorium. In the first act the characters and their motives will be introduced. Then it is the audience's turn to become the Sam Spades (or Harry Potter, depending on your age bracket) and solve the mystery. Like any night of intrigue, the fun is in the chase.

After interviewing the characters, it is back to the high school for dessert and the final act. Among the suspects are sleepy cat, a dopy cat, gangster dog, skittish dog and several others.

The proceeds of this production goes to the Drama Club's bi-annual trip to New York City.

"Cat Prints on a Car Hood" is directed by Peggy Plank and was written by local playwright George DeChant.

Ticket prices for the Dessert Theatre are $6 per adult and student price is $4 each. The fun begins at 7 p.m. in the Lake Placid High School Auditorium. For more information contact Peggy Plank, (518) 523-2474 ext. 132 .
