In the first act, at the Hilton Hotel in Lake Placid, the clowns get dressed, while revealing secret motives to want Rusty flying high on the trapeze of heaven. When the train departs for Saranac Lake, the audience members will have a chance to interview the cast to deduce who the murder is, with a different ending each night.
It is soon apparent that the clowns not only are continuing their circus tour, but running from the mysterious death of the hated circus boss.
"Departure" is an audience participation mystery that gives audience members a couple belly laughs and a chance to find a little 'law and order' in a carnival atmosphere.
Ringmaster Rusty Dingling's body was found next to his bottle of prozac or his 'happy pills' as they are often called. What looked like a night of excitement has turned into his last show under the 'Big Top.'
Each suspect believes that if they can get one step removed from town, their departure will allow them to escape justice. Since this performance crosses county lines, it is up to the general public to follow through on the investigation.
All the motives are presented, but it will be up to the audience to interview the cast on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. "Departure" was written by Gem*Boy
"Departure" proves that murder and intrigue can be fun, at least when all the suspects are clowns. Not your simple minded, good nature variety of clowns, but characters that could as easily twist the neck of the ringmaster, as a balloon into a necktie. Now the circus is leaving town, missing one ring leader.
The clowns have missed their bus and must take the Adirondack Scenic Rail Road to the next town for their next performance. One of these jokers will not be in the ring, but behind bars and it is up to the audience to solve the crime.
