"Ice Kapers"

Winter Carnival 1999
at the Hotel Saranac

The Hotel Saranac has a whopper of a murder mystery on its hands for the first weekend of the 1999 Winter Carnival. The play Ice Kapers will be presented in the Hotel Saranac's Grand Ballroom on February 6, with cocktails beginning at 5:30.

Ice Kapers is a comedy about a dead fish, flavored with local characters.

The village zoning manager has been found dead with a knife wound in his back. The police chief's prize winning trout has also been stolen and she isn't one bit happy about it. Not since the mayor put on spandex running shorts has there been such a heinous crime and the chief is concerned about the murder too!!

Including the police chief, there are eight suspects and one audience to solve this dinner-theatre mystery. The audience will travel through the hotel, interrogating the suspects.

Was the murder committed because of a stolen fish, or because someone's addition was not approved? After the first act of the play, where each suspect's motives are learned, the audience will try to decipher who killed the zoning manager. In the final act, after dinner has been served, the killer will be revealed.

The play -- written by local playwright Gem*Boy -- is being staged by the Community Theatre Players as part of the expanded first weekend of Winter Carnival.
