It's a Wonderful Life
Date: December 2 & 3, 2002

When radio was king, shows were broadcast from hotels around the
country, with a live audience. In the golden age of radio audiences would attended radio broadcasts to see the sound effects, as much as the story presented by the radio performers. That tradition will continue at the Historic Hotel Saranac, in the heart of Saranac Lake. There will be two radio foley artist (radio sound engineers) and a cast that includes some of the most prominent names in North Country theatre. The Hotel Saranac is 75 years old this year, so it only seemed natural that on a historic birthday, they would hold historic events. This production will be presented as if it was a radio broadcast from the Grand Ballroom of the Hotel Saranac. Audience members are invited to dine in the A.P. Smith Room and then enjoy a bit of history. Tickets for the show $10 for adults and $7 for children and seniors. The A.P. Smith Restaurant will be open before the show begins, for early bird diners and Lydia’s Café will open at 7 p.m. for audience members looking to enjoy a beverage before the show. The script is a Joe Landry adaptation and is directed by Jessica M. Deeb. The cast includes George Bailey, Krista Berger, Steve Borst, Alyssa Cavallo, Chris DeHond, Matt DeHond, Lonnie Ford, Cheri Freeburg, David Niederbuhl and Peter Wilson. Creating the audio landscape (sound effects) will be Doug Fransen and Jeff Letson. Gem*Boy Production will bring back the aura of radio on December 2 and 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Hotel Saranac (Saranac Lake, NY). The Hotel Saranac will be offering pre-performance dinner specials. For more information please call the Hotel Saranac, 518/891-2200 or 800/937-0211 or the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, 800/347-1992.
