Potsdam Youth Basketball Tournament 2000

General Rules

 

·         Games will be played according to the schedule. Please have your teams ready to move onto the court as soon as the previous game is finished.  Warm-ups will be limited to five minutes.

·         All games will consist of four quarters each consisting of eight minutes of stop time.   Note: If there is a time constraint, we may reduce each quarter by one minute.  Coaches will be notified in advance.

·         Four time-outs per game, one minute each.  Five minutes for halftime.

·         2 minute overtime periods.  1 minute break between regulation and overtime periods.  Jump ball will begin all overtime periods.  Each team will receive one additional time-out. 

·         Three point shots are allowed.  No shot clocks.  Teams will shoot one-and-one starting with the opponent’s 7th team foul, and two shots starting with the 10th  team foul.

·         Any defense, Man-to-Man or Zone, may be used.

·         Pressing is aloud at any time, except by a team that is ahead by 15 points or more.  The team that is behind may press at any time.

·         Any player ejected from a game will be ejected for the remainder of the tournament.

·         The tournament directors and staff will decide the consequences of any misconduct.   We ask that all players, parents, fans and friends display good sportsmanship and abide by PYBA’s tournament objective which  is the enjoyment of competitive basketball for our youth.

·         Please treat our officials with respect.  They are volunteering their time for our youth.

·         Players should come dressed to play.  A boy’s locker room and a girl’s locker room will be available.  We are fortunate to have excellent facilities at SUNY Potsdam and we ask that you treat these facilities with respect.    An adult MUST be present at all times when players are in the locker room.  Potsdam Youth Basketball, SUNY Potsdam and all schools, agencies and persons sponsoring this tournament are NOT responsible for lost or stolen property.  Any damages to the facilities will be charged to the teams responsible.

·         Children (players, siblings and friends) must be supervised at all times.  The Fieldhouse is off- limits during the tournament unless a coach is present with their team.

 

Tie Breakers to determine place after Round Robin (used in order)

 

·         Winner of the head-to-head game between the teams in question.

·         Fewest points-allowed combined for the entire Round Robin phase. 

·         Fewest points-allowed in a single-game effort during the Round Robin phase.

·         If unable to break the tie, coin flip will be used.
