Candor school

Candor is a small town in Tioga county located between Ithaca and Owego, New York. Candor Junior-Senior High School is a historical landmark located on Main Street in the center of town. The original school was built in the mid 1800's but was destroyed by fire on March 30, 1909. At that time there were 68 students in the district, 58 of them might have attended part of the year. The average attendance was 28.663 students. When the school was rebuilt in 1910 it cost $22,350 to build. It was set up to support 250 students but had the potential for 350 students.

The building that opened in 1910 is still the main part of the school. Additions have been made due to the growing amounts of students attending the school. We currently have 86 faculty members and 64 support staff, 69.2% of Candor's graduates go on to college. In 1994-1995 47% of our students earned Regents diplomas. The average percent out of all public schools was only 40%.
