Gas Light Village

In 1966 Gas Light Village was organized. The Gas Light Village Committee was able to get a pavilion in 1972. It was where the old city hall used to be. Gas Light is quite close to many things, one is the high school. Also, it is close to the middle school, Reeds Lake, and quite a few houses. In 1982 Jacobsons and the Gas Light Inn got permits to sell beer and wine. Gas Light has many stores/places to eat. The food is good. Jersey Junction, which is an ice-cream place, is one example of a fine place to eat. There are many more, such as 7/11, Buddies Bagels, Hot Tamale, D&W, and Jacobsons. Gas Light is still the center of East Grand Rapids after all these years.

 Hospital
Blodgett Memorial Hospital

Blodgett Memorial Hospital was organized in 1847 and is still occupying the same building. It serves over 200,000 people in one year. Blodgett is recognized for its poison control and for the Betty Ford Cancer Center. Also, it is known for its leadership in new technologies and treatment procedures.

Reeds Lake
Reeds Lake

Reeds Lake is located in East Grand Rapids, Mi. In case you don't know where East Grand Rapids is, it is located on the east of Grand Rapids. Also, Reeds Lake is the home of the Grand Rapids Yacht club. People any age are welcome to take sailing lessons to learn the fundamentals of sailing. To add to that, Reeds Lake is connected to a smaller lake called Fisk Lake.

To give you an idea of how big Reeds Lake is, it is only about 4 miles around. Since it is 4 miles round, it is a great setting for a run or a triathlon. Reeds Lake hosts two to three runs annually. The run generates hundreds and hundreds of runners from all over Kent County.

Reeds Lake is not a very nice place to swim. Some people go skiing and tubing anyway. Due to the many ducks in the lake and the small size of the lake, it is fairly easy to get swimmer's itch.
