Look around you! A covered bridge, an old city hall, a village park, a colonial home, a grist mill, or a church can all be pieces of history. Discovering history helps us to connect to our past and our future. And when we connect with places of the past we can connect with people of the past. Standing in a place where people of old once dwelled gives us a unique and wonderful experience. Think of it - long ago, the building had people like you and I living there. The only difference is time has passed them by, as it will us someday. Later, maybe someone will stand where you are standing and think of how you once lived. These experiences can never happen if we sit by and let our historical landmarks be destroyed or even unvisited. So look around you and make an effort to preserve and advertise any piece of history you may come across.

You and your classmates are invited to include a local landmark on our website. Write us and we'll tell you how!
