Your modem should dial our number, it should ring and answer. If the connection is successful you will see either a small window that says "Connected to NorthNet at ..." or the window will reduce itself and place itself in the tray on the task bar near the time display. Once either of these things happens you can start the Netscape Communicator 4.xx by double clicking the icon on the desktop.
How to disconnect.
To disconnect close Netscape and click on Disconnect from the "Connected" window. Restore it from the task bar or the system "tray" near the time display if necessary.
Trouble Shooting
There are several problems you may encounter when connecting for the first time. Try some of the hints below.
To reinstall the scripting program:
If the script is running while you are connecting and shows "Running C:\windows\1006.scp" on the task bar, then
there may be a problem with your script or with your username and/or password.
To check if the script is running properly:
After your modem connects, locate the "Running C:\windows\1006.scp" listed on the task bar, and click on it. This will bring up a small window. If it says "Authentication Failed" then you should double check your username and password in the "Connect To" window. Your username and password are both on your registration form which was mailed with your instruction packet. They should BOTH be typed in lowercase letters.
What to do if your "Save Password" box can not be checked:
Go back to step 1 and run the CD ROM setup program again.
Click on the Technical Support button, then click "Install Microsoft Networking"
When the program finishes, click on "Back to EZ-Net" and then click Quit.
Now you should be able to save the password in the "Connect To" window.
