Every Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. there are drawing lessons at Ladies First, gallery of art, in Rensselaer Falls.
The lessons include examination of the elements of art and the
principles of design. "There is no one that can draw exactly like
you," began Sally Hartman at the first class last Saturday. Each
student is encouraged to see, not just look at the subject. Short
critiques of the students progress help to teach the communicative
emphasis of visual vocabulary.
Drawing is fun. Drawing in the summer is so relaxing and
students are
welcome to remain after the class to continue to
practice the skills
learned during the lesson. "The class is
like a drawing clinic",
Hartman continues, "because you advance
from wherever you are on the
novice to artist continuum."
Mrs. Hartman is a 6-12 art instructor at Heuvelton Central School. The hour-long classes are open to all ages 9 through adult with a fee.
